The real story, seeing as how I’m sure a few of you out there are doing research on ol hank

Whenever the topic of Hank hitting Janet comes up and people get all high and mighty over having a WIFE BEATER in a movie, I feel like I should point out that no one fucking complained when they made a Fantastic Four movie and Reed Richards has slapped Sue on numerous occasions, whereas with Hank and Jan it was the one time and it wasn’t even meant to be.
Hank has just gotten a bad reputation over the years, probably because he’s an unstable guy to begin with. If you want to talk about what a dick he is, talk about Yellowjacket or Ultron.
And let’s please just pretend that Ultimates didn’t even happen because what the fuck were they even thinking JFC >

Can I print out this post, and the commentary, and hand it out Jehovah’s Witness style to everyone I meet? I understand not everyone I thrilled with an Ant-Man movie, but for fuck’s sake, do your goddamned research. A character reduced down to one pathetic, badly written moment, is a waste of a good character.
What if they made a Ms Marvel movie, and the entire internet cried ‘WHAT. YOU CAN’T MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT CAROL DANVERS. SHE WAS RAPED THAT ONE TIME IN THE EIGHTIES!’ How the fuck would you feel? That a magnificent, interesting character was stripped down to the poor choices of a creative team left long in the past.
Hank Pym is a flawed character. Deeply flawed. You know who else is flawed? Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton. I hear Bruce Banner has some issues as well. Yes, I am upset that there is no confirmation on a Widow movie yet. But please keep this in mind:
PHASE TWO IS NOT THE END FOR MARVEL MOVIES. Ant Man has been in pre-production LONG BEFORE The Avengers came out, long before Black Widow got such an amazing reception, and I would wager the same for Guardians of the Galaxy. Have some goddamned patience. If you want to be angry at someone, be angry at DC. Compare the big three of each company:
Marvel - Captain America (one movie), Iron Man (two movies), Thor (one movie), and one team up movie.
DC - Batman (Eight movies), Superman (Seven movies), Wonder Woman (Zero. None.)
I love Natasha, but I was sure she was going to be the worst part of The Avengers. Marvel and Disney were probably as surprised by the fan reaction as I was (For the record, she was the best part for me). But there’s the thing - Wonder Woman is a wildly more popular character than Natasha, and Natasha has been in two movies. TWO. AND WAS A REALLY HUGE PART OF THE AVENGERS.
So fucking calm down, and if you have to be angry, start thinking about where your rage should be directed. Eight Batman movies. Seven Superman movies. No Wonder Woman movies.
(God I am so fucking angry at certain parts of fandom right now)
AND ONE MORE THING. If we can ignore, for the moment, the fact that everyone is hung up on one storyline that was never supposed to happen, and a series set in a different universe that has been UNIVERSALLY PANNED, do you guys realize what we might get from this? A superhero with major mental health issues. Someone who has been held back and disabled by said issues, who have shaped who he is. Do you have any idea how good that could be? The messages that Marvel and Disney could send? Maybe we could see the good from this, instead of focusing on one of the numerous mistakes of creative teams past, if you could all just put down your fucking justice blinker for two seconds.
Edit: OKAY THIS IS THE LAST THING I SWEAR. what I really don’t understand here is the way people are acting like Hank Pym is a real fucking person. Watch out, I’m popping the fandom bubble here - he’s not. He is ink and paper. He does not exist outside the pages of a comic. Hank Pym is not a bad person. He is not an evil man. He is a fictional fucking character. If you are so desperate to find someone to scream out, start focusing on the fact that the script was misinterpreted, and the mistake was not fixed. Start looking past the ends of your fucking noses. The next time someone shrieks ‘HANK PYM IS A WIFE BEATER’ at me, I am going to reply with ‘LOKI IS A MASS MURDERER.’
Goddamnit. It is too early to be this angry at ignorance.
(By the way, there is still no fucking excuse for not having a Black Panther movie yet, Marvel. Step up.)
